Samonjo Baba (Secret of Love)
Sheikh Hameed Wali (1331–1412) who is also known as Samunjo Baba. They are the famous Waliullah, Zahid and Madras, who settled in Bursa, a city in Turkey. Sheikh is known as an influential figure of his time and a Muslim dervishes. He was born in Caesarea in 1331 and died in Darinde in 1412. After the completion of the famous Jama Masjid in Bursa, Sultan Bayazid I appointed him a teacher there. Famous disciples of Samonjo Baba include famous names like ‘Maula Finali’ and ‘Haji Bairam Awal Wali’.
Simonjo Baba is one of the pious people who went to Anadolu (University) to study spiritual sciences. After being irrigated by famous centers of knowledge like Syria, Tabriz, Ardabil, he settled in Bursa to perform his duties and to guide the nation. You used to make bread and sell it to keep the spiritual aspect of your life hidden from the world, which is why you got the name Samonjo Baba, meaning “Baker Baba”.
On the occasion of the inauguration of the great mosque ‘Olu’ in Bursa, he translated Surah Al-Fatihah from seven different aspects which made him popular among the people and everyone started liking him. You wanted to stay away from this publicity, so you left Bursa and went to Aq Sarai. Later he went to Mecca with his son. You must have returned from Mecca, but the journey of love was forgotten all your life.
